Cool Libraries

Check out images of cool libraries which we brought together on our pinterest board COOL LIBRARIES.

One of the libraries featured on our pinterest board is the new Stuttgart Public Library in Southern Germany.

How does this innovative city (known as the "cradle of the automobile") envision a public library in the 21st century? Korean architect Eun Young Yi was chosen to deliver a stunning, yet refreshingly simple design! No doubt, Steve Jobs would have approved of it! Books and people are the focus throughout, delivering a multitude of colors in a mostly white interior, similiar to the design of the new central Amsterdam Public Library which is the largest public library in Europe. In the Stuttgart Public Library there is a Café with a very appealing and smartly chosen name. It is called Café LesBar which means Reading Bar, but "lesbar" in German means also readable! Coincidentally, we recently added the book "Brilliant: White in Design" by Linda O'Keeffe to our collection.

Stuffed Animal Sleepover 2012

Stuffed Animal Sleepover

On Monday, July 23rd, the library hosted its first stuffed animal sleepover.  Children brought their favorite stuffed animal and  left them to have their own sleepover at the library. When they came to pick up their animals the next day, the children were able to take home pictures of what their critters had been up to in the night!
