Starting June 25, Hamden library card holders will have the opportunity to request and borrow materials in a way that ensures the safety of patrons and staff by avoiding direct contact. Library buildings will remain closed and there are no fines. Due to high demand up to 5 items may be borrowed per library card. Thank you for your patience. WHEN DO I PICK UP THE ITEM(S)?
Miller – M, T, W = 10 a.m. to 1 pm/ 2 to 7 p.m.
Th & F = 10 a.m. to 1 pm/ 2 to 5 p.m.
Brundage – M, T, Th, F = 10 a.m. to 1 p.m./2 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Whitneyville – M, T, Th, F = 10 a.m. to 1 p.m./2 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Once you are notified of your hold, come to the library during our contactless delivery hours. We will hold the item for seven days.
HOW TO REQUEST ITEMS TO BORROW THROUGH OUR WEBSITE OR BY CALLING OR EMAILING.

Ask the staff member to locate your item and to place a hold on it. Make sure to tell the person where you want to pick up the item – Miller, Brundage/Community, or Whitneyville.
EMAIL: You may also email your request to firstname.lastname@example.org. If you do not have a specific title in mind, call or email to request that
staff find items about a specific subject or in a particular genre for you. Are you interested in exercise, cooking, history, mysteries? We’ll put
together a bundle of your favorite topics for you.
HOW WILL I KNOW MY HOLD IS FILLED?
Our staff will quickly retrieve the item and place it on hold for you. When your hold is filled you will get an email. If you do not have email, we will
call you. Please make sure we have your current email or phone number on record.
Due to high demand, you will be limited to five checkouts and ten holds for future checkouts per library card.

When you arrive at your desired library location, stay in your car or outside, and call us to let us know you are here. The phone numbers are below.
Please have your library card number handy. If you do not have your number handy, we will ask you to verify your address. We will check out the
items for you.
When we finish checking out the item(s) we will leave them in the Thornton Wilder foyer or branch portico. Enter the building, after you see us leave or after a couple of minutes. Your items will be wrapped with a piece of paper. This paper will have the due dates on it. Your items will be identified
with the last four digits of your phone number – not your name. Books will go out for three weeks, TV/Series DVDs for two weeks, and DVDs for
HOW ABOUT RETURNING ITEMS?
At the Miller Library there is a free standing item return in the foyer. Leave your items there. Or, you can use our exterior book drop. At the branches,
please use the book drop located at the front door.
All returned items are quarantined for 72 hours before we check them in. Do not be alarmed, if you see items still on your card right after bringing
them in. We are not charging fines at this time.
