Cozy Up to A Mystery!

Winter weather getting you down? Frustrated by the season’s long nights and short days? Here’s a suggestion: Cozy Up to A Mystery! Beginning Tuesday, January 2, Hamden Public Library patrons are invited to spend those lengthy weeks of winter reading, watching and discussing mysteries. We’ve rounded up what Flavorwire calls the 50 Essential Mystery Novels along with Cinemaholic’s 10 Best Mystery Movies for your reading, viewing and discussing pleasure (we’ll be hosting two afternoon mystery book discussions and creating an exclusive mystery-themed blog online). We’re even planned a special mystery activity just in time to celebrate Mardi Gras (Feb. 13)!

And, best of all, adults can win prizes just for participating! Each time you borrow one of the Essential Mystery novels or attend a library showing of one of the Best Mystery Movies or participate in one of the two library book discussion or the Mardi Gras Mystery, you’ll earn raffle tickets for the 2 prize drawings that will be held during the course of the program.  Each raffle ticket makes you eligible to win Amazon gift cards, mystery books, board games, puzzles or our grand prize: two tickets for Ken Ludwig’s Baskerville: A Sherlock Holmes Mystery at Long Wharf Theatre on Friday, March 16 along with a $50 gift certificate for Brazi’s Italian Restaurant at Long Wharf.

Stop by any of Hamden Public Library’s three locations between January 2 and March 13 to pick up additional information on Cozy Up to A Mystery, including the 50 Essential Mystery Novel and 10 Best Mystery Movies lists plus a schedule of Cozy Up events. The sooner you do, the sooner you can earn raffle tickets and become eligible to win one of our great prizes.

Visit our 50 Essential Mysteries: A Hamden Public Library Discussion Forum to share your responses to and opinions of the books you've read!
