Book Donation Guidelines
Thank you for thinking of the Hamden Public Library
WE ONLY ACCEPT DONATIONS THE FIRST 8 DAYS OF EACH MONTH.
The library welcomes donations of used books. However, we can accept only those books which are in very good condition. Accepted books which are not added to the collection are given to the Second Hand Prose Shop. Please call 287-2680 in advance to arrange for your donation.
- No books will be accepted that smell or suffer from mildew, yellowed pages, water stains, or that are dusty.
- Paperbacks should be in mint condition.
- Hardcover should be in like-new condition, with the following limitations: Encyclopedias, technical, travel, and medical books must have copyright date no older than five (5) years.
- If you think your books qualify for donation and you have two or more boxes/bags of books to donate, please bring in a sample or two for a librarian to evaluate, before bringing the entire lot inside. The Library does not have the space or staff to dispose of your books.
- Donations other than books-- While the Miller Library welcomes donations of videos, audiocassettes, CDs and DVDs, it does not accept record albums, or magazines. If you have only a few current magazines, you may place them on our Magazine Exchange Table.
