February Computer Classes

Computer Classes

These free classes will be held in the Friends Room at Miller Memorial Library, 2901 Dixwell Avenue in Hamden. The library will provide laptop computers for use in the class but you are free to bring your own computer as well.

Registration is required as class size is limited. Register online, in person at the Library Information Desk, or by calling 203-287-2680.

Learn the ins and outs of using Photos on your iPhone or iPad to create, edit, and share photo albums and videos.

Microsoft Excel: Introduction to Excel

This course is designed to provide an overview on using Microsoft Excel 2013; topics covered include the interface, data entry, cell formatting and basic formulas.
No prior experience is needed with Excel, but basic computer skills are recommended.

The library will provide laptop computers for use in the class but you are free to bring your own computer as well.

This class covers the basics of using Instagram, the social media platform that lets you share photos and follow your friends as well as celebrities like Tom Hanks.

Feel free to bring your own mobile device to follow along with the instructor.

Microsoft Excel: Introduction to Tables and Pivot Tables

This course is designed to provide an overview on creating using Tables in Microsoft Excel 2013. You will learn how to create, format and use Excel tables.
It is strongly recommended that you have some prior experience with Excel’s basic features.

The library will provide laptop computers for use in the class but you are free to bring your own computer as well.

Protecting Your Privacy Online

Cookies, Spyware, Targeted Advertising. These are just some of the things that are prevalent in today’s digital world. Many companies and corporations have made a big business out of learning everything they can about you in order to sell your data to advertisers and politicians.
This course will go over actions you can take to increase privacy online and reduce the amount of information you give to Big Data.

The library will provide laptop computers for use in the class but you are free to bring your own computer as well.

Microsoft Excel: Introduction to Formulas

This course is designed to provide an overview of formulas and functions in Microsoft Excel 2013; topics covered include the formula/function syntax, cell referencing, basic mathematical functions and a brief introduction to IF statements.

Prior experience with basic Excel features is strongly recommended, as is a good grasp of basic computer skills.

The library will provide laptop computers for use in the class but you are free to bring your own computer as well.
