Our 2020 Summer Reading craft programs will be via grab & go craft kits.
When you register for the craft, a bag with your name on it will be left on the curbside pick up table.
(To assure that all families get a chance to participate in our program, there will be a limit of 2 kits per family.)
This week, we will be offering a beanstalk growing project!
If you don’t get a chance to pick up a kit, you can try it for yourself at home!
- 1 Skewer
- Clear Plastic Cup
- Pea Seed or Lima Bean
- Pour soil into a clear plastic cup and make a one inch deep hole with your finger.
- Place your seed in the hole and cover it up with soil.
- When watering, either sprinkle water or spray with a squirt bottle
(Make sure you place your growing beanstalk in an area with full sun!)
- Insert skewer into soil
- Now watch as your beanstalk grows!
Here are some recommended books to read for this project!
Jack and the Beanstalk by Paul Galdone
Calamity Jack by Shannon Hale
Jack and the Beanstalk: an interactive fairy tale by Blake Hoena
